Port Stephens Cycle Group

Cycling in the Nelson Bay area

No one is left behind on our rides. E Bikes welcome on our social rides.

Port Stephens Cycle Group

We are a cycling group that acts as an umbrella under which several groups around Nelson Bay area ride. We offer casual rides and a range of Road Bike rides. We also can put riders in touch with MTB riders as we have taken over the Admin of Casual Bay MTB .

Group Rides

We ride socially on Tuesday and Wednesday and more serious road bike rides on Saturday and Sunday mornings. We post rides on our Facebook page.

About image
Port Stephens Cycle Group (PSCG) acts as a conduit for several cycle groups around the Nelson Bay area. All our rides are open to any age and standard and several regular riders are on E Bikes. We post rides on our Facebook page and can put you in contact with others who ride around the area.  Our social rides are very casual with the mandatory coffee stop.  The Tuesday Tredlers ride goes from Salamander Bay Oval corner of Foreshore Drive and Soldiers Point Rd starting from 7.30am and goes to Birubi --- coffee at Crest.  This ride averages around  20 kmph.  On Wednesdays  PSCCCC ride starting at the same place and time we ride Shoal Bay or Fingal this is a slower ride and have coffee at various places around the place.  We pick several riders up along the way.  Another group who are under our umbrella rides bunch rides from Roy Wood Reserve corner of Foreshore Drive and Sandy Point Rd Saturdays starting at 7.20 this ride averages 25+kmph.  On Sundays starting at 7.30 from the "bottle bank" the Earn and Return thingo at Salamander Square Sopping Centre--- McDonalds side.  This ride goes down to Soldiers Point then over to Fingal around 50km at an average of 22+ kmph they have coffee at various places around the place.  Our aim is to get people to together not only for rides but for other activities such as SUP Kayaking and walking.  A great way to meet people.  Being a holiday destination we find our self being contacted by visitors and nearly always can find them a ride that suits their needs.  PSCG does advocacy work with an emphasis on improving safety for cyclists around the area.
Recently we had Casual Bay MTB come under our umbrella we have taken over the running of this group but are keeping it separate from our road group.
Port Stephens Cycle Group members participate in the Great Cycle Challenge each October and in non Covid times have a fund raising dinner with a raffle of quality items donated to us. We often ride charity events like The Singleton Mail Run and Harbour to Vine. From time to time we have week ends away most recently at Mudgee.
There is no cost to join PSCG or to join any of our rides but remember -------
ALL RIDES ARE ON A "MATES RIDE" BASIS MEANING YOU RIDE AT YOUR RISK.
